Subject: GISList: Rotating Annotation in ArcMap
Date:  03/27/2003 01:35:01 PM
From:  Gary Andersen

Does anyone know of a VBA procedure that could be set up as a Macro in
ArcMap to do the following:

Once a text (annotation) is selected . . . run the macro (set up a button)
to rotate the label to a specified angle and return to the "Select Elements"
arrow.

Right now, as I see it, for each annotation (several hundred) I have to:

1. Select the annotation with the "Select Elements" arrow
2. Click onto the rotate button
3. Type in A which brings up an input box
4. Type desired angle into box
5. Hit enter
6. Reselect the "Select Elements" arrow to adjust position of annotation.

Now I know that I can select numerous annotation at once. However, rotating
the group results in labels be scattered far from the intended objects. In
AutoCAD one can simply use the "Match Properties" Tool to accomplish
rotations . . . something that ArcView could use.

Better yet, what about a "Match Properties" Extension?

Thanks,

Gary Andersen
