Original Q: Embarassed to admit, but I've forgotten how to connect to an Excel spreadsheet with SQL Connect in ArcView 3.2. I can find the spreadsheet but when I hit connect, nothing shows up for me to select tables from. I know I've missed a step 'cause I've done this before, but it's not coming to me (and it's not even a Monday). And I haven't found it in the ArcView help files yet either.
Answer: I was doing all the steps right but one. I found the solution at http://gis.sam.usace.army.mil/Support/Arc8_Workshop/databases.htm
I had to create a system DSN in the Windows Settings (Start|Control Panel|Administrative Tools|Data Sources (ODBC)|System DSN then add.
I was trying to do it in the User DSN. Silly me.
