Dear Lists,
I apologize for the cross postings.
I have multiple stream channel centerlines for some existing hydraulic models that I have entered into ArcView and created a shape file for the line work. The hydraulic model gives the distance between the cross sections along the stream channel centerline. I have the total width of the cross section and can determine how much is left and right of the centerline fairly easily. I need the locations to assist in flood plain mapping and to identify where the existing cross sections are located to assist in identifying new cross section locations. I have approximately 120 channel centerlines that I need to do this for.
I am looking for advice and/or scripts for ArcView 3.x or 8.x that will allow me to create cross section lines perpendicular to the stream channel centerline in an automated fashion. The cross section line ideally would have the total length and left and right overbank lengths equal to what I determine from the hydraulic model. I can create a table of the lengths and distances between cross sections for this. I can live without the length of the cross section line being done automatically since I will need to adjust a number of the lines after the entry.
Thank you in advance for your help. I will summarize the responses to the list.
