SALARY:
$5,044 to $6,227* monthly and the City pays the employee's contributions to= the Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS), which results in a net pay= increase of approximately $353 to $436 per month. In addition, the City pa= rticipates in the Medicare portion of FICA only, and therefore there is no = deduction made for social security. *Salary pending City Council approval.
MAJOR DUTIES:
Assists the Transit Systems Analyst in designing, implementing and administ= ering Transit systems and related technologies. Assists the Transit Systems Analyst in the implementation and administratio= n of Voice Response, Customer Service, Fleet Management, Operator Payroll, = Fare Collection, Automated Vehicle Location, Dispatch, Radio and other auto= mated transit information systems. Installs, troubleshoots and maintains hardware and software supporting voic= e, data and video applications via wireless communication systems in transi= t vehicles. Analyzes transit processes and reporting requirements and maintains standar= ds and procedures for fueling systems, wireless data communications, two-wa= y radios, time keeping, records management, IVR, GIS, handhelds, and web-ba= sed systems using specific transit applications and other programming tools= such as Microsoft Office, Structured Query Language (SQL) and Crystal Repo= rts in a networked environment utilizing Microsoft NT/2000/SQL Servers. Coordinates the implementation of technological innovations in the Transit = Department by participating in training, seminars and meetings pertaining t= o the operation of transit-automated systems. Assists in the development and maintenance of a transit trip planning syste= m and web site to facilitate the exchange of information between the transi= t scheduling system and the public. Works with the Transit Systems Analyst in the development of the Transit we= b site and Intranet to facilitate the exchange of information between the B= ig Blue Bus and the public. Assists in the implementation of Geographic Information System based applic= ations and an interactive voice response system to enhance customer service= delivery. Monitors data backups and assists in the implementation of backup strategie= s and tape replacements. Configures and maintains databases for equipment inventories, vehicle infor= mation and other related hardware and software systems. Provides support to the Software Systems Analyst, as required. Performs related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of: LAN/WAN networks using Active Directory, TCP/IP, IPX/SPX, Novell, and Micro= soft supporting multiple operating systems and multiple sites: Geographic I= nformation Systems practices and principles: two-way voice communication sy= stems, operations and maintenance: system design, development and documenta= tion techniques: database access tools including Structured Query Language = (SQL): software system configuration, maintenance and problem resolution: s= oftware systems administration, systems analysis: MS/DOS, Windows NT/2000/X= P, workstation, NT 2000 server and Novell Netware operating systems: effect= ive customer service techniques.
Ability to: Provide technical support for automated transit systems in a client server = local and wide area network: prepare complex reports using Crystal Report W= riter: document technical information and user procedure: manage applicatio= n and user file systems: communicate effectively with the public and City e= mployees: complete assignments in an accurate and timely manner: conduct re= search and make recommendations on technology: read and understand technical computer-relat= ed training and reference manuals: master new software applications: refere= nce and understand computer product catalogs: provide training and instruct= ion on various computer applications: establish and maintain effective and = cooperative working relationships with City employees and the public: provi= de effective customer service.
Skill in: Computer hardware and software configuration, maintenance and problem resol= ution: installing hardware and software components and editing configuratio= n data files to implement client and server systems.
Licenses and Certificates: Possession of a valid Class C driver license.
Education, Training, and Experience: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degre= e in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or a related field. T= hree years of work experience performing software analysis and project admi= nistration/management including designing, implementing and maintaining sof= tware systems and relational databases. Relevant experience with a transit = agency is highly desirable.
