Date:  06/10/2003 04:05:01 AM
From:  m-e.tschudin .. bluewin.ch

Hello

I am trying to compile a list with the highest points in each of the first
order administrative districts within Russia. Is there any one who can make
contibution to complete this list? Any help/contribution is very much appreciated.
Please find below of what I was able to collect so far.

Thank you! Marcel

Some information on this data collection:

Note the different spellings of geographical names in Russia, in particular
i, iy, yy, j

The full name of the districts are according to the spelling of NIMA / GNS.

Reference [1]:
As a starting point, I was using the descriptions as found under the link
http://www.iiasa.ac.at/Research/FOR/russia_cd/adm_lis.htm
I added to each of the districts the relevant part of the topographical disriptions.

Reference [2]:
Where no other reference is given, the coordinates were taken from the Geospatial
Engine under the link
http://geoengine.nima.mil
The numerical data were rounded to three decimals.

Reference [3]:
When referring to "my atlas", I refer to the German version of "The Times
Concise Atlas of the World", Bartholomew and Times Book, 1993.
