Subject: GISList: Packaging data...
Date:  06/17/2003 03:35:01 PM
From:  Lega, Robert

Hello all, Sorry for the X-posting

What I'm trying to do, unsuccessful so far, is to package a complete set of=
vector, raster, and TIN data sets of cities within the US. So far I've be=
en able to get everything set up properly as far as a file structure, and a=
m planning on including ArcExplorer just incase.=20=20

Along these lines, with my sample CD which contains, what is considered a w=
orking AEP project file(ArcExplorer), and all datasets, (excluding TINs). =
After I unzip, extract, the contents of a city, and open ArcExplorer. I at=
tempt to open the project file, but receive two messages.

First: it tells me that a MrSID file is "not a valid image", and does not l=
oad.
Second: it tells me that each and every shape file is an "Invalid database."

However, I'm able to open a separate ArcExplorer session and load all data,=
vector and raster. I've checked all permissions and they alright, got rid=
of all unnecessary characters, and still nada...

Why is that when trying to create, copy, and distribute a AEP file does it =
not like the files that created it? What can I do to create a AEP file tha=
t will open after it's been copied, zipped with files that make up the AEP,=
burned to CD, and extracted?
