I'm looking for experiences and comments: 1. By USERS of orthorectification software 2. As it is being applied to ArcGIS 8.3/ArcView software.
Anyone use OrthoMapper? OrthoGIS? DIME? Other packages that are compatib= le with ArcGIS?

Hello all! I'm looking for experienced advice about orthorectification software to use= with our ArcGIS 8.3/ArcView software. Our natural resource department wil= l be purchasing orthorectifiction software to process:
1. Initial goal is to process 10-20 digital color aerial photos of recent = harvest areas, at flown at various scales between 1:2400 to 1:12000. Purpo= se will be to replace portion of our 2000 B/W othophoto with newer digital = photo. Alternatively, if accuracy is unacceptable, I want to be able to ov= erlay the rectified photos. This process is repeated twice per year. Our = primary resources are timber, fish, and wildlife. Our topography varies fr= om flat to steeply broken. Vegetative cover is generally thick timber and = brushy, making it very time-consuming to find tie points
2. Long-term goal is to process aerial photo archives (1940 - 2000). This= consists of about 10,000 photos from ten or more flights covering over 200= ,000 acres. Photos are primarily B/W flown at 1:12000. Purpose is to create= individual orthophotos for each photo flight, and also for overlaying onto= other orthophotos. We may buy a scanner and do the scanning as needed, or= we may contract out scanning.
DIME, OrthGIS, OrthMapper, ... users? Any advice about orthorectification = software will be appreciated. I'm particularly interested in costs (ie tim= e) to process batches: of 20 digital photos and for large batches (eg 1000)= of scanned photos.
Thanks in advance
