the .clt file extension is (almost certainly) a clutter file designation used in radar data acquired by weather systems

These may be the formats you are interested in, although some extensions are often shared by many software.
vct - Idrisi Vector file format see the Manifold GIS documentation for import hgt - USGS grid files - see ftp://edcsgs9.cr.usgs.gov/pub/data/srtm/Documentation/ see ftp://edcsgs9.cr.usgs.gov/pub/data/srtm/Documentation/.Notes_for_ARCInfo_use
rs.txt for getting it into ArcInfo
I have no clue as to the clt format

We have had a partner come to us and ask if we can help them with some data migration issues. Their main problem is understanding what is involved in migrating & converting spatial data from one format to another. Their existing data has the following formats ( *.clt , *.hgt, *.vct ). These are unfamiliar to us as well, but I am sure there are probably tools within ArcInfo (the target system) which I can use to import these. I've searched but have not yet found something explicit that walks me through this. I am sure this is not a rare problem, so if any of you have encountered these data formats before and know what/where to look to accomplish this, much appreciated for some direction. Thanks in advance.
Anthony
