Dear friends,
Astronomers, Geodesists and Geographers know vernal point very well. It is one of the two points on the earth's orbit where the sun shines on both hemispheres for the same length of time. The vernal equinox (March 21, when spring comes to the Northern Hemisphere) has been selected as the reference that serves as the origin for various measurements on the ecliptic. As you know, the popular date for Earth Day has been April 22. And since March 22 has been called World Water Day, so I think "World Geosciences Day" or "Geo-Space Sciences Day" is a good name for March 21. What's your idea? Sincerely, Masoud Fozunbal
