Subject: RE: [gislist] symbols

DuBose,

If you can draw the symbol, I can tell you how to import it...

Convert the JPG or BMP to a GIF (BMP works too, but not as well)
Get to the legend editor, double click on the symbol, go to the far =
right, the palette.
Change the type to marker, and click import...locate/find your =
picture...then if you go to the Marker palette portion of symbol legend =
editor, your new symbol should be at the bottom right.

Good luck,
RSL

Subject: [gislist] symbols

Good Morning,

Very quick question. I want a particular symbol for ArcView 3x. I want a
black circle with a white outline. The symbols that come with ArcView =
will
not accomplish this. I am pretty sure about this because hours have been
spent looking at each symbol and tweaking the outline, foreground, and
background to achieve the results that we want. I thought there were
available through ESRI's web site, additional symbols. However, I have =
been
to the ArcScripts web page and searched and I am not coming up with =
anything
that is close to what I want. I know that I can design the symbols =
myself
and import it into ArcVIew but I wanted to make sure I cannot find the
symbol elsewhere.

Does anyone have any suggestions.

Thank you,

DuBose
