GPS enabled mobile phone tags are being developed to track harbour seals. They
track the seals position but as Bill explained signals can only be obtained
when the seal comes to the surface.
Choppy conditions make it difficult to get recordings. When the seal comes
back in contact with a coastal phone mast it sends a text message with its
position details.
A nice application of the technology...
