Can someone tell me if a script exists for ArcView 3.x that would create a list of the nearest x number of neighbours for set of points and display their distances (or at least list them in order of increasing distance)? I was on the ESRI Arc Scripts site, but couldn't find anything like it.
Purpose: I have a point file of weather station locations. When there is a data gap, we need to substitute from a nearby station. With over 100 stations (and growing) it is going to be a big job to manually find the 5 or 6 closest neighbours and list them in order of distance.
If anyone knows of the existence of a script to do this, or of scripts that could be cobbled together to do it, I'd be quite grateful. As a non-Avenue programmer, I'd be hard pressed to figure this one out myself.
Thanks a million.
