I don't know if this is the appropriate forum, so if it is not I apologize.
The Robeson County Tax Department has the following vacancy:
Job Title: GIS Technician
Salary Range: $31,768 - $45,275
Example of Duties: Under administrative direction, the purpose of the
position is to perform responsible technical work for the GIS/Mapping
Division of the Tax Administration office and create output of analysis such
as maps, statistics, and reports. Employees in this class utilize deeds,
plats, legal documents, and other records for the purpose of developing,
updating, and maintaining maps used for taxation and assessment purposes.
Employees utilize digital mapping programs in Geographic Information Systems
(GIS) to perform assigned duties. Reports to the Mapping/GIS Division
Manager. Performs related work as required.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in geography, geographic information
systems, or closely related field or Associates degree in a related field
supplemented by three (3) years experience and/or training that includes
street addressing using GIS systems, and/or preparing maps: or an equivalent
combination of education, training, and experience. TRAINEE APPOINTMENT:
Trainee appointments will be considered for applicants possessing an
appropriate bachelor’s degree or associates degree and limited previous
experience.
Employee must obtain State NCPMA certification and pass course in
Fundamentals of Property Listing and Assessing within 18 months of
employment. Possession of a valid North Carolina driver’s license for the
duration of employment required.

until 5:15 p.m., through Friday, October 31, 2003. Job description is
available for review in the Human Resources Office. The final candidate is
subject to a Criminal Background/Reference Check and Drug Testing.
