Rick -
The Canadian Government (especially Natural Resources Canada) has spent =
a considerable amount of time and effort to provide the citizens of =
Canada a very high quality geospatially enabled portal. This activity =
has been facilitated by a group called Geoconnections Canada. The portal =
now provides access to multiple geospatial repositories in multiple =
departments via an integrated client application. The portal is spatial =
data content neutral and vendor neutral. In this way, each department =
maintains the spatial data they are responsible for so that data do not =
need to be duplicated and are always up to date.
Two related web sites are the Canadian Forest Service and the NR =
Canada's Toporama web application. All these web sites are publicly =
accessible and easily navigated. Should be fun for your students!
