Hello Listers,
I am going to ask for some help here. I am working on a project and we
need to do some area calculations in a quick manner. I have cad files
with the information separate by level/layer. I have 6-8 different
combinations of levels that make up the mapping. For example, I have
one level with all my pier locations, another level with inter-tidal
shallows and I need to know how many acres fall within the shallow area.
I know this can be done with GIS, my question is, which software would
give me a quick solution. I can do the area calcs by using CAD, and
this would take 8-12 hours, so spending 16 hours to build polygons would
not be cost effective. I am not looking to make fancy maps as much as a
tool for doing area calcs and crunching some numbers
