Dear list subscribers,
I am wondering if anyone out there has experience in building geodatabase m= odels for noise?
We are working on a huge project to create an EU-compliant noise map of the= UK. There are four sources of noise to include - road, rail, air, and ind= ustry. This will be achieved by building a 3D model of the source location= s (eg road centrelines with traffic speed and flow rate attributes), buildi= ng heights to allow noise wave reflections, ground cover, etc. This model = will be built in GIS software and exported into specialist noise modelling = packages for receptor value calculations as a noise grid, following acousti= c propogation algorithms and standards.
What I am researching is how the GIS model can be best created within a geo= database. I have found the excellent examples on the esri data models site= for various transport mediums etc, but none specifically for noise. The m= ajor issue is how the different noise sources can be developed into one rel= ational model, retaining the complex interactions between them?
If anyone has any links to similar work of noise modelling within a GIS usi= ng geodatabases then this would be most grateful.
Thanks in advance,
Rich
