Subject: Re: [gislist] setting prices for mapping service
Date:  10/27/2003 06:10:01 AM
From:  Pat Waggaman

http://www.marimsys.com/pages/marimsys_charting.htm gives a description of=
=20
the service: and http://www.marimsys.com/pages/chart_pricing.htm gives=20
pricing.

To condense:
Process 500,000 points @ $0.0025 / line =3D $1250.00 less 30% quanitity=20
discount or $875
- including import of xyz / cleaning out false returns / organization &=20
projection
- at this point the "new" 500,000 data points can be added to the user's=
=20
other data in our files.

NOTE: Vessels produce tracks, essentially "lines" of data=20
points. Charting improves in quality over time as these "lines" add more=20
and more points are available over particular areas. There is great value=
=20
added in maintaining this "cleaned" data, and adding new data as it is=20
created / becomes available.

Process dataset into and chart file - $25.00 - at this point the chart can=
=20
be emitted to work in our plotting or fleet management software for no=20
additional costs.

Create formatted "chart size" file for user to print - $40

Data, all "working meta-data" and actual charts remain the intellectual=20
property of the user.

http://www.marimsys.com/imagenes/Marimsys_chart.jpg is a reduced density=20
.jpg sample.showing a sunken riverbed, occurring in a presumed geologic=20
fault. These are quite useful to geologists / bottom fishermen & marine=20
biologists.

Depending upon the area covered, the 500,000 data points could very well be=
=20
used to create a half dozen charts, depending upon coverage of the area and=
=20
the density of the data. e.g. You will generally creata a chart for "all=20
cleaned good data", and then a series of zooms into that data where the=20
amount of data, or the users interests warrant.

Have fun!
