Subject: RE: [gislist] Tiger 2002 Q
Date:  11/06/2003 02:55:01 PM
From:  Rowe, John

Go to ESRI.COM, under downloads look for Tiger to shape
extensions. These will convert the tiger data to shape files.

They may not be perfect. You may want to browse the web and
purchase a custom made utility. There are several available.
They can be relatively cheap. If you plan on converting a lot of
data this made be cost effective as the free scripts on the ESRI web
site are not always effective.

Failing this there are companies that have converted the tiger to shape
for the hole of the US. Costs vary but it maybe cost effective to buy.

Hope this helps,
John

Subject: [gislist] Tiger 2002 Q

Hello Fellow Listers,

Has anyone run into the new (?) file types used by the USCB for the 2002
Tiger files? They are coded as .rt1, .rtz, .rtu, etc. The rt stands for
Record Type, but I have not been able to find out what you must do to use
the data in a GIS (specifically ArcView). Please advise.

Thanks in advance,
