If the engineering department is used to AutoCad, you may want to look at upgrading to AutoCad Map....this will make it easier to incorporate existing drawings...ESRI also will give great capacity but would involve learning a new system. AutoCad Map's learning curve is pretty steep also. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mick" <mickb@clgw.net> To: <gislist@lists.thinkburst.com> Sent: Monday, November 24, 2003 8:26 AM Subject: [gislist] Mapping Programs
My work for a municipality with a population of about 11,000 people. We have Underground Electric, Natural Gas, and Water Distribution lines in our system. We presently are using Autocad 14 to make our maps. We are wanting to look into using GPS, etc... to better make our mapping more accurate.Have been told about hand held units from Trimble for the data collection, and also programs such as ERSI as software. We would like more information about these programs? Thank you in advance.
