Subject: RE: [gislist] Survey Data & AV 8.3

From:  Neil Havermale

One company you might want to look into would be Tripod Data, a Trimble
company. Tripod was purchased by Trimble about two years ago and has been
able to keep its hardware nutrality and is generally one of the best
"survery" data collectors on CE handhelds. Beyond the decade over lead in
providing data integration to all major survey softwares they also have paid
attention to the GIS interests as well, ESRI ArcView and more recent ArcGIS
designs inparticular.

Another place you could research for replacements for the apparently over
priced ESRI solution is via Surveyor Magazine. They have just published
their annual products issue on the WEB...

There's a traverse tool that comes with ArcGIS in the ArcObjects Developers
Kit Samples. Doesn't do everything but you can check it out to see if it
does what you need.

Dear List People:

I recently inquired with ESRI about their survey analyst extension. It's
$2,500. Ridiculous, no? Any third party software out there for integrating
survey data with AV 8.3?

Mucho gracias,

Pete
