Subject: [gislist] SUM: Clip Mr Sid Image
Date:  11/27/2003 04:05:00 PM
From:  RICK GRAY

So far lots of options to clip Mr Sid images in ArcView - but only if I
have ArcView 8.x and not 3.3 (as is the case). I haven't been able to
try these out, but if anyone using 8.x has a need to clip Mr Sid images
here are some options...

>From Doug Culbert: Use Mr Sid Viewer to convert image to TIFF, then
with ArcToolbox convert TIFF to GRID, then use ArcInfo's gridclip.

Dan Harms said essentially the same, but recommended GeoExplorer as the
conversion tool.

Gary Anderson suggested they use AutoDesk Map with Raster Design and
clip to a shape there and insert into ArcMap.

Tina Brister sent me complete instructions for using ArcMap (if anyone
is interested, I will keep it on file for a while).

For ArcView 3.x, cristif@geo.unibuc.ro suggested I could use a script
called "cropmiser.avx" or another called "crop.avx" but these only work
on grids, not on Mr. Sid images.

Thanks all, but I guess I'm out of luck with the limited software at my
disposal.

Rick
