Greetings all.
I'm trying to track down information on the UTM coordinate system used in = Vietnam during the 1960s and 70s. The reference for a location would be = an alphanumeric code (e.g. ARxxxyyy) with the two letters referring to a = mapsheet (or grid) and the 6 numerals referring to X and Y coordinates = (xxx is the x-coordinate, and yyy is the y-coordinate. The x and y = coordinates have one decimal implied). I've trawled about on the web for = some documentation of this system, and in the archives of a number of = discussion lists but haven't found anything that helps (e.g. Datum used, = and other projection parameters). I'm not sure if this was specifically a = US military coordinate system but was definitely used by the military.
Any pointers would be apprecieated and will SUM.
cheers Philip Greyson Irvine, CA
