Subject: RE: [gislist] Future for GIS Programmers?

From:  GISex* Technologies

GIS is ethical business of transparency GIS show the directions to people GIS leads people to right places, stops them wondering around, lost-one's find there place, without GIS all leads to nowhere. Must you encourage let talents find there right place.
The king is the man who can.

well, i reckon the need for mapping is only going to increase dramatically,
but like any other geeky field, there are more and more people available to
do the werk, so competition may be a problem and salaries won't be as great
for the masses.

however, as in any area, i hate being part of a crowd, and so if i'm not
doing something innovative and unique, i'd rather let someone else do it.
so it depends on his perspective, does he have ideas for must-have apps in
the future or does he just want to process stuff that exists already?

maps, more than ever, are going to become an integral part of mobile
technology in the coming decade, whether you want a piece of the pie or to
just put the icing on the cake is up to you.

Subject: [gislist] Future for GIS Programmers?

Hi,

my husband is thinking about changing his career. He his considering to
make the wonderful world of GIS his future. Of course, he is wondering,
if the future for GIS programmers looks as grey as the future of some
other computer occupations. Being at the GIS user end, I am not really
sure, what to tell him. Any ideas?

Thanks, and happy holidays,

Julia
