Subject: RE: [gislist] Future for GIS Programmers?
Date:  12/24/2003 02:25:01 AM
From:  Michael Gould

There's lots of good programming to be done based on open software (see=20
www.freegis.org) , tools, libraries, OGC/ISO specs (see www.opengis.org)=20
.... enough to build a nice business or three. :-)

Many government agencies are migrating from desktop GIS to clients=20
connected to spatial data infrastructures SDI. a reinvention of GIS to some=
=20
extent. Plenty of room for growth and more programmers.

[Dimitri, save us the reaction that OGC is bad and we should program in=20
MSFT languages and buy Manifold for $75 plus tax]

saludos and happy holidays to all

Mike Gould
