Subject: [gislist] Do GIS Professionals Have A "Professional Association?"
Date:  01/07/2004 10:30:01 AM
From:  Patricia Solis

Jack and others,
You might also consider joining the Association of American Geographers =
(AAG). We are a professional, scientific, and educational society =
comprised of approximately 8,400 members from the public and private =
sectors. We have numerous speciality groups, the largest of which is =
the GIS Specialty Group. In addition, the Applied Geography Specialty =
Groups is very active, and comprises many of them GIS professionals. We =
publish two refereed journals, the Annals of the Association of American =
Geographers, and the Professional Geographer, both of which regularly =
feature articles on GIS research and applications. We also hold an =
annual meeting where many sessions and exhibits feature GIS.
I would be happy to provide further information, or you can browse our =
website at www.aag.org.

OK, here's another one. I've been prompted by others about joining a
professional associatin for GIS.... Do we have one? I've seen =
information
on ACSM, but are there others? This dovetails into some research as to
where I might publish several articles.
Thanks,
MAJ Jack Haefner
