Let's continue this SUM thread for a bit - CPU priority in a multitasking world has quite a bit of potential.
Does anyone know how to assign CPU priorities, probably using Taskman.exe, in a script?
We've been trying to create bootup scripts that assign CPU priority for the session, leaving open the possibility to manually change Taskman, or until the machine gets rebooted. The value in this would be to lower the priority of automatic virus checking, backup tasks, and ??? while the machine is "cooking" some serious GIS number crunching overnight or weekend.
It seems to us a potentially powerful tool to gain the capability to assign priorities with an "autoexec.bat" type script, orienting priorities in various other servers (mail & web) as well.
Thanks,
Pat
