(apologies for cross-posting) (This message is mainly targeted to those of you who are in the UK, but would welcome help from anyone.)
Dear members of the GI community (especially in the UK),
I wonder if anyone could help me. I need to compile a short report on "GIS in the UK". I have been given a questionnaire to work on, and would especially need help in identifying the following:
1) Has any new GIS (related) technology been developed in the UK, especially since 2001? If yes, its area of application.
2) Areas of the market within the UK where the use of GIS related technologies are expanding. (Lidar data? What else?)
3) Is there a legislation or governmental policy in place that encourages or makes the use of GIS technologies mandatory for a particular application? (I haven't heard such thing. Does anyone know?)
4) How has OS Master Map been received by the GI industry? Has it accelerated data sharing between various organisations?
This is not all, but I should be able to collect information for the rest of the questions from the internet. (If anyone is interested in helping me with the other questions as well, please get in touch!)
This is a report that the Japanese Ministry of Land and Transportation is trying to compile and publish in Japan. It will also contain information based on the same questions of countries such as USA, Canada and France as well.
I want it to be as accurate and comprehensive as possible, hence am applying for your help. I have been in this country for just over 5 years working on various GIS related projects, so I do know about various things in my area (i.e. risk in the built environment) but do not know well enough about the "whole picture".
I wouldn't mind if you want to, in effect, advertise your company's new technology or application.
ANY INFORMATION/ SUGGESTIONS GREATELY APPRECITED!
If necessary, I can be contacted at the address below (in my sig file.)
Thank you very much for your attention,
Keiko
