Hello Fellow List Members,
Sorry for cross-posting!
I'm looking for some opinions/suggestions for raster to vector conversion
software. We have a hard copy manual that has some hand-drawn graphics that
we wish to convert to CAD. We may also have a project coming up that
involves the conversion of hard copy plat (parcel) maps into polygon
shapefiles.
I thought I would see what sort of experiences good and bad, that members of
these lists had with different raster/vector conversion software
applications:
Would you recommend a stand alone software or an extension to a mainstream
GIS/CAD software? (We currently use Autodesk, ESRI, and Intergraph with our
customers.)
What sort of issues did you run into when converting rasters to vectors?
What functionalities set stand alone applications aside from extensions, or
vice versa?
Are there any applications (OCR) that can convert hand written documents
into text?
Your opinions and suggestions would be appreciated.
