Hello!
I have GIS puzzle. I am looking to create a road accessibility variable for districts in Mozambique. I have 3 types of roads categories paved, semi-paved and dirt. What I want to be able to do is come up with a value for the accessibility to the roadway, weighted based on type. One thing that I notice most studies seem to do is to calculate a road density based on the length of road and the area of the polygon, however I feel that this won't represent access for those polygons that have roads nearby and/or surrounding them (as there is accessibility to them), but would end up with a value of zero.
So is there anyone out there that can think of a good way to get a value for accessibility with weighting the roads based on the category? Or know of some study/genius that has?
Thank you so much!
Erika
