Thanks Jamie.
I had tried this site earlier, but hadn't been able to download. It's there,
it's free, and it's great looking data.
It just takes a bit of patience to navigate, but worth the effort.

This site is certainly worth a look. You have to register to browse the
datasets. Hopefully they aren't into "cost recovery"!

I have been searching, unsuccessfully so far, for roads, towns, etc. layers
for
the province of Manitoba, Canada. I am primarily interested in the wheat
growing
area (i.e. the south). I need something with better resolution than the
ESRI
data set. Any suggestions? Inexpensive would be good, free would be better.
