Mike,

The OpenEV application can read and display DRG GeoTIFF files. The high
level is implemented in Python, and with a wee bit of scripting it could
support positioning input on the commandline or from some sort of text input
interface.

It is free, and supported on Windows, Linux and some other Unix platforms.

I would be willing to help out in providing the scripting modifications for
positioning. However, if $100 represents the value of a solution to you
it may not be worthwhile. I wouldn't be looking to charge for my effort but
keep in mind that solutions to custom problems like this do take time and
effort - yours and mine in this case.

OpenEV can be downloaded from:
http://openev.sourceforge.net/

Implementing a respectible cross platform geospatial raster viewer is a
non-trivial effort.

Best regards,
