Subject: Re: [gislist] DRG Viewer
Date:  03/03/2004 04:05:01 PM
From:  Mike Flannigan

Thank you Frank and John (and any others) for the
speedy response.

Thanks a bunch for that advice. I think that OpenEV is
what I want. I'm downloading it now and will give it a
try. I'll post to the list after I try it out for a while.

That Win2000 download is about 3 or 4 times bigger
than I expected it to be, but I have no problem with
that. It must do a lot more than I think it does. I am
intrigued by that "and analyzing raster and vector
geospatial data" comment they have on the main page.

I guess I'm not the expert I think I am in this area. I
believe I've heard of that OpenEV in the past, but
I sure wasn't aware of it recently.

Yeah, I'll almost certainly be spending more than $100 of
my time on the solution, but my time doesn't apply to that
$100 figure :-)

I already have a nice script that unzips and opens the correct
DRG given a lat/long (or map name). Now I'll be working on
taking it further with OpenEV. I can't believe all the time I
wasted unzipping DRG files in the past.
