hi there,
does anybody know whether files from sofware GISsim are readable by arcview?

Hi Anthony,
I think that ArcMap requires using the 'loopback adapter', to contact the
license manager via TCP/IP. Windows (and zone alarm or similar programs)
sees this as a connection to the network/internet. An actual connection to
the internet should not be required -- I've run it without a connection
and a local license manager lots of times.
I don't know enough about networking to explain this in greater detail.
