I am researching the feasability of applying GIS to microfinance poverty alleviation strategies. There are two types of data I need most-
1. Disaggregated local and regional demographic data in GIS format for poverty related variables (census data, income, education, infant mortality, water access, etc.), and
2. Street maps for 3rd World Cities. (I saw some from Geoscope but they are expensive.)
First I am looking for Guatemala, Mexico and Russia, but eventually the search would spread to other countries in Latin America, Africa and the NIS. So I am hoping to get general advice and/or specific locations of data for the above countries.
Thank you, Shane Mudd
