Rick,
You might want to have a look at SVG. SVG is an XML-standard for displaying vector graphics on the web. It is possible to make the interactive with javascript.
Just some examples: http://www.w3.org/TR/SVG/ http://www.adobe.com/svg/main.html http://www.mycgiserver.com/~amri/mapbrow.html http://www.svgelves.com/ http://www.wherearewe.co.nz/svg.html

| Hello fellow listers, | | We generate daily interpolated maps using Surfer from Golden Software. | Currently we export the results as .gif images and post these to the | web, using | Cold Fusion to link to tables from our database. We wish to explore a | more | dynamic method for displaying our maps on the web - primarily with | the ability | to zoom and pan. We also need to be able to click on locations to | display | associated tables. There will be NO NEED for geocoding, our modeled | results are | too generalized for that. | | Can anyone suggest a simple solution? At this time we will not be | changing our | GIS solution - we are very happy with the results from Surfer and | have invested | a lot into its automation. We are just looking for an effective | method for | displaying the results. | | Your suggestions are gratefully welcomed. | | Rick Gray | GIS Specialist, Ontario Weather Network | http://www.ownweb.ca | GIS Instructor | Ridgetown College, University of Guelph | http://www.ridgetowncollege.com/ | | Tel. 519-674-1554 | E-mail: rgray@ridgetownc.uoguelph.ca | | Ridgetown: -81.883 W, 42.450 N | | This message has been scanned by Mcafee Anti-virus Software and | is certified virus free. | | _______________________________________________ | gislist mailing list | gislist@lists.geocomm.com | http://lists.geocomm.com/mailman/listinfo/gislist | | _________________________________ | This list is brought to you by | The GeoCommunity | http://www.geocomm.com/ | | Get Access to the latest GIS & Geospatial Industry RFPs and bids | http://www.geobids.com
