Subject: [gislist] srtm30 import error
Date:  03/23/2004 03:30:01 AM
From:  Dan CRACIUN

Hi listers,

Anyone succeded in importing srtm30 (or srtm3) data in ArcGis?
I can import GTOPO30 data without any problems
(ArcCatalog->Export->Raster to different format->ESRI grid).
When I try the same thing with srtm30.... nothing happens.
I tried converting with ArcToolbox->Import to Raster->Image to raster
and it throws an error (Invalid format).
I'm banging my head to the wall here. The srtm30 data is supposed to be
in exactly the same format as GTOPO30, so it has to be something obvious
that I'm overlooking. I even redownloaded a tile (although the CRC in
the zip file matched) and of course I ended up with the same result: no
can do. And yes, I renamed .dem to .bil.
Any suggestions will be greatly apreciated.

TYA,

Dan CRACIUN
