Hi listers,
Back to work, back to the same problem. The specs for srtm3 say that the projection is geographic WGS1984.
So after I convert the .bil to grid, I went into ArcCatalog and assigned WGS_1984 as the projection. Then when I add the grid in ArcMap I get the scale of 1:653.957.328 !!!! OK, so that doesn't work.
I assigned the WGS1984 projection directly to the .bil and tried to import that. The scale is correct this time (1:108.902), but... ArcMap doesn't display anything. So this doesn't work either.
I've tried both types of .prj:
the one created by ArcGis
GEOGCS["GCS_WGS_1984",DATUM["D_WGS_1984",SPHEROID["WGS_1984",6378137.0,298.257223563]],PRIMEM["Greenwich",0.0],UNIT["Degree",0.0174532925199433]]
and the one that is in the gtopo distribution:
Projection GEOGRAPHIC Datum WGS84 Zunits METERS Units DD Spheroid WGS84 Xshift 0.0000000000 Yshift 0.0000000000 Parameters
None works.
Any ideas?
TIA,
