Bigyan,
Easy to do in Excel.
If you put your data in two spreadsheets (easier if they are in the same workbook), then make sure they are sorted alphabetically by placename, then use the INDEX and MATCH functionality of Excel.
I have attached a spreadsheet with some sample data and formulas to match and move the data.
You will notice that you get a #NA in the cells that do not have a match in the other data set.
