Bigyan,

Easy to do in Excel.

If you put your data in two spreadsheets (easier if they are in the same
workbook), then make sure they are sorted alphabetically by placename, then use
the INDEX and MATCH functionality of Excel.

I have attached a spreadsheet with some sample data and formulas to match and
move the data.

You will notice that you get a #NA in the cells that do not have a match in the
other data set.

If you still have problems, let me know.

Hi Listers,

I have two databases such as
-- Database1: place names and their latitude and longitude
-- Database2: place names with their population data.

Now, I want to join these two databases as per the place names, those found
both in database1 and database2. Please note that there are some place names in
database2 those are not available in database1 or vice versa. Can anyone suggest
me a VBA macro tool for excel or any avenue script which does this
automatically.

Regards,
Bigyan Kar
