Subject: [gislist] Printing Problems in ArcGIS 9.0 - Possible Solution

hey List:

It seems that some of us are having problems printing now that we have =
gone to 9.0. Below is my original message:

I upgraded to ArcGIS (ArcView) 9.0 yesterday. Today I am having problems =
getting to the print menu - my ArcGIS just sits there and then the screen =
goes white (blank) and stays there for VERY long periods of time. I have =
talked with our IT folks and there isn't anything unusual with our network =
- which leads me to think that this is an ESRI problem.

Below is a short explanation of what my IT guys did to solve my problem:

"The printing problem you experienced (extreme latency opening printer =
dialog and no output to certain printers) existed while several of your =
printers were attached Novell NDPS. Those were HP printers being serviced =
by NetWare 5.1 server running the latest version of NDPS and the HP NDPS =
Gateway. After those printer connections were removed and replaced with =
the same printers connected through a Windows 2000 server, the problem =
went away."
