Not the stock market - the GIS software market. Customers do respond to = market conditions (price, power, quality, ease of use). But not like they = do for commodities. When buying a new car or computer, its no problem to = switch from brand to brand. But in software, people often stick with what = they know to avoid having to retrain themselves. This brand devotion may = or may not be rational: software consumers rarely have perfect knowledge = and it is difficult to predict the cost of switching from one package to = another. In the long run, companies with subpar performance do risk = losing part of the market. =20
