I want to convert vmap0 (all of it) to something more palatable to arcview and other apps. I have used ogr2ogr to dump out a series of shapefiles for each layer (~50). However I want to dissolve this/assign useful attributes. So far I'm using VPFIMPORT with only limited success. i.e. I get some usable stuff, but it's really messy.
So, before I spend a lot of time on this, I'm hoping someone else has done this and can provide some AML snippets/tips. Admittedly I am not that great with AML but it looks pretty easy/straightforward so far. I think I'm mostly stuck on the VMAP data structure, and how to glue in all the attributes/stuff I want. I have some vague notion that control files will be involved.
I know this is an oft-asked question, but after googling and reviewing ESRI archives I have no good solution.
Will SUM, heck I'll put it on the web with a bunch of snippets and stuff if I get a good working solution.
cheers, - bri
