GIS List:
I have about 200 individual polyline shapefiles (stream reaches) that I need now (after-the-fact) to attribute about 10 simple fields worth of data to. The 10 fields and their records need to attributed to each shapefile/line. I work in Arc View 3.3.
Other than in AV adding each new field one at a time to the shape attribute table, and then add each record one at a time, is there any way to at least import a new dbaseIV table into each attribute table that provides the fields (header) - leaving me to only then go back to each attribute table and add the records for each. In other words how can I avoid having to type in each new field over and over again for hundreds of line shapes?
I've struggled with creating new dbaseIV files in Excel in an effort to replace or add to the attribute table fields - but I lose geographic data for each line. And there doesn't seem to be much room for error in dbaseIV.
Any advice would appreciated.
