Lovely, I missed this "filtering" process in my initial rant. These types of "qualifying" application processes only benefit those potential candidates kniving enough to pepper their CVs and applications with key words that are "all the rave" [again - WAP, IMS, ASP, certification..."] so that they get the call for the interview. Indeed, not a bad strategy given that a CV's sole purpose is to GET the interview, not the job, but this is much akin to how Google ranks search queries. How many times does the word "certification" appear in a candidates CV: the logical conclusion would be, from this approach, is that if I submit a 5 page CV with nothing but certification, I would be guaranteed an interview. A nonsense example, but you see the point. The effort becomes a cat n mouse game between the hiring manager and the pool of candidates. Far removed from the business of finding the right candidate.
If the military is hiring people for jobs without having someone that the candidate would actually work with or under in the interviewing process, if not contributing to the final decision, I'm speechless.....
