Subject: [gislist] Oracle 10g Spatial
Date:  07/24/2004 08:15:00 AM
From:  Giridhar

Hello every body.=20

Here I am forwarding a mail from other GIS- group. Please give your =
opinion

Subject: Oracle 10g Spatial !

Dear Members,

As most of you may be aware that Oracle 10g Spatial
has introduced a lot of GIS components into it. It has
almost all the features which a traditional GIS
software like ESRI offers except the map editing
capability. I understand that ORACLE may give ESRI,
INTERGRAPH a run for their money in the years to come,
if not months in terms of GIS functionalities.=20

I would like to know from the user point of view, how
robust oracle 10g spatial is vis-a-vis ArcGIS or
Geomedia? and do you forsee most of the GIS community
shifting to oracle in the future because of the
obvious advantage of storing both spatial and tabular
data in a single database.

I would be glad if any of you could share your
experience.=20

Regards,

Vish
