Hi, Building a car is relatively straightforward also. First you put in a motor, add 4 tires, install a steering wheel, and you are ready to go! Driving this car would be like developing a GIS without understanding what a coordinate system is, let alone 'projection.' (Of course in the article this was only a lead-in line to a more complicated analysis of a couple of GIS software programs.)
Regards, Paula

Hi all. GIS is more than create map. Some people confuse GIS and cartography. regards. kanga -----Original Message----- From: gislist-bounces@lists.thinkburst.com To: gislist@lists.thinkburst.com Sent: 8/2/04 11:47 AM Subject: [gislist] GIS easy to use?
Hi all,
Ran across this article this AM and noted with interest the following quote...
..."GIS programs are relatively straightforward to use. First, you create a map with different features -- points, lines and regions -- that are coded according to a map coordinate system"...
Interesting remark considering its targetted at the potential user. Rather under estimated a bit though wouldn't you say??
