Jack just demo-ed a button at the user conference that will pause the = display. It only works in Arc9, I think. The problem is that you can't = see the display while it is paused. It will be handy to turn off and on = a bunch of different layers and set a lot of symbology without having to = wait for the machine to come back from refresh. =20 dt

My company is moving to 9, although my site doesn't have it yet. I'm using 8.3. I have a big wish list for 9, but I have one specific wish list item I would really like to know about. Is there a way in 9 (or 8.3 for that matter, in case I've missed it all these years) to stop the view from refreshing itself after every little operation? I would love to be able to do a bunch of stuff, primarily cartographically, and then press "refresh" rather than have the system refresh itself after every operation, which takes sooooo long and is incredibly annoying. I hope its in 9. Anyone know? Derek
