Subject: RE: [gislist] Spreadsheet (Excel) macro to GIS script/extension!
Date:  09/01/2004 04:35:01 PM
From:  Neil Havermale

You might want to consider the recent version 7.8 news from MapInfo that
provides "an enhanced interface to MS Excel -quickly get information in and
out of MapInfo Professional". Why might this be a reasonable solution? Many
years ago now MapInfo technology was selected by Microsoft for inclusion in
to Excel as a small but essential core for Excel native map-making.

Subject: [gislist] Spreadsheet (Excel) macro to GIS script/extension!

Dear list-member,

We are working with an agro-metrological model "written" and running in
Excel (Visual Basic) and would like to integrate it as extension into one of
the GIS (ArcGIS, Idrisi, soon Manifold) we use.

Unfortunately our programming knowledge/abilities are rather scarce. Before
starting of and wasting time we are looking for some opinion on how
difficult this task is for a novice / for an expert and some advise on how
to approach it.

Any input is appreciated!

Thank you very much,

Paul
