Subject: Re: [gislist] ouline shapefile

From:  Paul van Helden

Hi Jane,

http://www.ngdc.noaa.gov/mgg/shorelines/

There is a large shapefile of all the coastlines of the world (190MB):
http://www.ngdc.noaa.gov/mgg/shorelines/data/gshhs/gshhs_shp/

If you need country boundaries (with somewhat less accurate coastlines)
there is an updated version of the World Database from UNEP
(http://www.grid.unep.ch/) based on the old ESRI "PC World Database". I
can't find an exact URL on their site right now, but we have a freely
available derivative map and software on our website, which would allow
you to select and export country boundaries to shape files:

Regards,

Paul van Helden.
