Listers (or those that have stuck around...)
Here's my dilemma (victim of success + poor planning): we have a series of projects that involve pictures of locations associated with shapefile points (hot linking). The poor planning part was that we now have multiple large area projects done, but for each one, we have numerically sequenced the photo Id numbers to match the Id number in the attribute table (again, strictly for the purposes of hot linking). This works just fine for a single project area, but when we want to view all project areas in a single geodatabase, well, the daunting task of renaming all the photos so we have only unique names is, well, unthinkable. I am looking for a way to rename "en masse" all the photos for a given project area to something more "smart" (like alpha-numeric, etc. etc.) so that I can put all these location records in a geodatabase and have them find the correct photo when the hotlink button is used. I really have created quite a headache for myself, and hope that I am not a pioneer in this backwards approach and that someone has developed a tool to remedy this....
TIA, Anthony
Ps. If no one has done this, if there are smart people who want to get paid for developing it, let's talk...
