Rick,
There is also an open source alternative to Visio that is free to = download. I haven't yet used it personally, but the it looks good on the = website. Here is the link:

Have you tried Visio? It's one of Bill's products but is *more like* = AutoCad than Word or PowerPoint. AutoCad people would cringe at that = suggestion but I mean it's more like AutoCad because you can easily = create larger sheets. And it's got a good library of shapes to insert. = You can't draw to scale very well (at all?) with it - which is the major = difference - but it might be good for the layouts you need.

Hi folks,
My job description has expanded to include the design of flyers and = brochures, and PowerPoint and Word just won't cut it anymore. I was able to make do = with them when I produced one or two flyers a year. Now we want to create = monthly newsletters and generate custom brochures for the various events we = attend.=20 Maps, photos and drawings will be regular inclusions.
Can someone recommend a software package that doesn't have too steep of = a learning curve? I've had a small amount of experience with Corel Draw (a = few years ago) but have probably forgotten most of what I knew. Reasonable = price would be nice, too, because if my boss thinks it's too expensive I will = be stuck with what I've got. Acquiring new software is my idea, not his.
A software suggestion along with its strengths and weaknesses would be absolutely wonderful, as would ballpark price. =20
We are a PC and Bill Gates shop here, if that makes a difference in your suggestion.
Thanks a million.
Rick
